Recently, we have seen some fantastic results with the opening of Boronia Lifestyle Options. The next exciting development is our new Lifestyle Options service in Mitcham, due to open soon.

Can we build it? Yes we can!

The fit-out of the Mitcham site is moving forward well, with builders working hard to finish renovating the interior spaces. Once the people we support start accessing this new site, local neighbours and business people will be invited along to an opening day.

Knox Supported Living residents are also looking forward to moving into their brand new homes in Boronia. The houses at both of the Knox sites are progressing well.

At one of the houses, the plastering has been completed, and fit out, vinyl flooring and joinery has started.

Over at the other house, builders have finished laying the brickwork and installed the windows. They will start on plastering next.

It’s all about life.

This project has always been about more than just the buildings.

The new Lifestyle Options services are closer to shops and transport, so people can participate more easily in the community.

As for the new supported living houses – it is about creating a home.

Scope staff have supported people to decide which house they will be living in, and who their housemates will be.

Staff have worked hard to develop plans that meet the needs and preferences of each resident and their families.

The Knox resident advocacy group will be replaced by two resident groups – one for each new home. They will meet on a regular basis to discuss day-to-day matters about how things will work in their new homes.

What’s next?

We are focussing on getting a personalised transition plan to support each person with the move to their new homes.

We look forward to keeping you up to date and detailing the opening of the new sites soon.
