Today, National Disability Services (NDS) launched the NDS State of the Disability Sector 2015 report.

The report outlines the current state of the sector, and key concerns with the launch of the NDIS.

Key outtakes include:

  • Most disability service providers are cautiously optimistic and plan to grow in the next six months
  • There is concern that government agencies are not working closely enough with the sector
  • 38% of disability support workers are casuals, a number expected to rise as the NDIS rolls out
  • There is a need to improve employment opportunities for people living with a disability
