Scope Speak Out Group is made up of participants from Scope Day and Lifestyle Options. The group meet weekly and discuss how they can be more involved in the community. Some of the projects the group has planned are a morning tea to support a garden project, a Halloween disco, and most recently a  fundraiser for the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal.

On the 12th April 2017, the Speak Out Group from St Albans, supported by Scope’s Community Inclusion team planned and held a Royal Children’s Hospital appeal fundraiser.

At the start of the term the group discussed what a charity was and different ways to support charities. From this the group brainstormed different charities which included the Salvation Army and The Biggest Morning Tea. There was one charity that really caught everyone’s attention which was the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal.

The group met weekly for eight weeks and planned out every aspect of the fundraiser including donations, catering, games and activities.

Altogether 400 raffle tickets were sold, and over $600 worth of prizes donated to the raffle.

The day included a BBQ lunch, music by Nikita Azzopardi and games and activities.

The winner of the main prize, a BBQ, was Daniel Willis from Scope’s Day and Lifestyle Options!
