Make your information accessible to everyone. Scope’s team of writers speech pathologists and consumer testers use an evidence-based approach to design and write inclusive and accessible documents.

As part of our Easy Read service, we also put your documents to the test by consumers who have low English literacy to make sure they can read and understand the information. This way, you’ll know that important information about your business or organisation is accessible for people who have difficulty reading.

Why make your information more accessible?

Almost half (44%) of Australians have low English literacy. This includes people with disability, people from CALD backgrounds and older Australians. For these people, it can be hard to understand some documents and information — which can cause stress and uncertainty.

Easy Read uses simple language, clear information and helpful images to help get your message across. As well as helping to reduce a reader’s stress, making your information more accessible delivers a range of benefits for your business or organisation:

How Scope can help

Document translation

Do you have a brochure, website content, posters, social media tiles or other documents that you want to make more accessible? Our team of writers and speech pathologists can help you translate documents into Easy Read and plain language.

Focus groups

Not sure where to start? A focus group is a great way to identify your end users’ needs. We can facilitate accessible focus groups with our team of staff who have a lived experience of low English literacy, they are experts in helping you identify how to make your documents easy to read.

Training

Want to learn how to produce your own accessible documents? You could join one of our Accessible Information training sessions — either online over three 1.5 hour sessions, or face-to-face in a one full-day workshop. During the training, Scope’s experts will show you how to make your documents more accessible.
