Scope Turns 70

Dr Jennifer Fitzgerald, CEO, Scope Aust

On August 17, 1948, a group of families seeking support for their children with cerebral palsy built an organisation that believed in every individual’s potential, regardless of their disability.

Fast forward 70 years and you have the Scope as we know it today – a Victorian disability service offering support to over 6,000 children and adults with a disability, across 108 sites in Victoria.

We are committed to building capacity and independence for our customers and staff, helping create a life of choice and control.

The future is looking bright for us. We continue to work in the NDIS environment, deliver research that honours the voice of people with a disability and their families, and promise to keep delivering high quality services.

We are proud to be an innovative leader in the sector, recently achieving a place in the AFR Most Innovative Companies list.

I would like to thank you all for your hard work, persistence and collaboration throughout this journey – whether you are supported by Scope, a staff member or a member of the community – we are most effective when we work together, so let’s take this opportunity to be proud of who we are and what our future holds.

Happy 70th Birthday Scope – here’s to the next 70 years!
