Voters Voice wins

App recognised for making elections easier

“This project solves an important, practical problem and should have been done years ago!” – Good Design Jury

In 2016 Scope partnered with the Victorian Electoral Commission to create the Voters Voice app. In 2017 Voters Voice won the Good Design Award for Digital Design: App Design.

Voters Voice empowers people with communication and literacy difficulties to vote in elections.

Features of the app include:

  • Communication boards including an alphabet board and picture based board with commonly required vocabulary items.
  • Easy English guides which cover topics such as “About voting” and “Council elections”.
  • Auslan footage.

You can read more about the features of Voters Voice here.

The Victorian Electoral Commission has a long standing commitment to communication access. They were the first Victorian Government agency to be accredited with the Scope’s Communication Access Symbol in 2013.

Congratulations to the Voters Voice app for a well-deserved win!
