It’s International Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Awareness Month! Every year we mark the occasion by encouraging people to get together to share a Silent Morning Tea.
The Silent Morning Tea aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by people with communication difficulties. It is also a great reminder of some of the different ways that you can support effective communication with people who use AAC.
We hosted our own Silent Morning Tea on Tuesday the 17th of October at our brand new Hawthorn office.
Attendees played ‘Bingo’ and our newest game, ‘Mime, Mould or Draw’. All without talking!
People used alphabet boards, picture boards, speech generating devices, sign and gesture to guess what people were miming, moulding with clay, or drawing.
Check out some of the highlights from our event!
