Scope’s Kaleidoscope art program’s Victorian footprint continues to grow through a partnership with Gertrude Contemporary.

Kaleidoscope artists Caroline Sant and Greg Muir have worked with Gertrude alumni Sean Bailey and Fergus Binns to exhibit their works in Gertrude Contemporary’s recently opened project space, Gertrude Glasshouse, as part of In Concert.

Greg Muir presents two paintings, Balloon Football I and Balloon Football II, alongside Space Odyssey, a digital video of one of his performance pieces.

“It was fantastic,” Greg enthused about the exhibition opening, where he caught up with mentor Fergus Binns, met other artists and enjoyed socialising with the interested and engaged visitors to the gallery.

Caroline Sant also attended, catching up with mentor Sean Bailey who helped organise Caroline’s works for the exhibition. Caroline exhibited five pieces in the show: Cat, Butterfly, Elephant, Floating Cat and Horse.

This is a busy year for Caroline, who has also recently been invited by Guide Dogs Australia to paint a sculpture for an exhibition coming up at the State Library of Victoria later this year.

Artists from Arts Project Australia and students from Collingwood English Language School, St John’s Primary School and Fitzroy Primary School have also been part of the Gertrude Contemporary outreach programs for the last three years.

The exhibition contains a wide range of works including turf paintings, public soccer matches, rap videos, workshops, photography and individual artworks, reflecting the possibilities for diversity and collaboration outside the traditional gallery confines.
