The highly anticipated first round of the BFL season finally got under in May. It involved a match between the Black and Yellow teams.

There had been two weeks of practice, so the expectations of a quality match were high and we weren’t let down as everyone had a fair dinkum crack. The teams were evenly matched and no one was getting ahead of themselves.

The game was very quick and the players were in fine form with some excellent headers, scoring a couple of early goals.

At half time, the Black team led by 3 goals to 0.

The black team put in some big defensive efforts and during the second half there were some neat passages of play.
In the end, the Black team got up, but the Yellow team were honorable in defeat. As they say in football, there’s always next week. It was pleasing to see everyone’s improvement from the first two weeks and by all reports everyone had a great time.

Black: Matt Allen, Tom Lock, Dan Dianna, Nathan Hill
