At Scope, staff, people we support and families came together to celebrate this milestone.
This is an exciting next step in the journey of improving the lives of people with a disability through a nation-wide commitment to funding the supports people need to live well. The NDIS aims to provide people with the opportunity to become more empowered to make choices in how they live and to have the ability for greater participation in the community.
Scope sites and services celebrated the rollout in different ways. Some held morning teas where information on the NDIS was shared, others handed out information to people we support and families.
Simonne Van Paesschen, a Disability Support Worker at Scope Wheatley Road engaged with Letter Lights, a local company in Williamstown to set up the letters in their showroom. For Simonne “the NDIS gives not only the people we support new possibilities and chances, it will also give support workers a way of being creative in their jobs”.
