Disability Royal Commission Community Forums and how to be involved
The Disability Royal Commission have announced they are holding community forums in a number of locations around the country, beginning in February 2020, in Ipswich and Logan, Queensland.
Community forums are an opportunity for the Royal Commission to update the community about their work, and for people with disability to share their stories within an informal environment.
These forums are open to people with disability and their families. The Royal Commission will hold specific community engagements with organisations including peaks and service providers in the near future.
Hearing directly from the people with disability is critical to the work of the Royal Commission.
Anyone can attend a community forum but for planning purposes you will need to pre-register to attend. All engagement events including community forums will be fully accessible, including Auslan Interpreters and live captioning on the day.
People unable to attend community forums can make a submission, by phone, in writing or by making an audio or video recording.
A list of planned community forums (or community engagement activities) and their locations can be found on the Disability Royal Commission Schedule Jan – June 2020.
