Scope has some exciting news! Three members from our community have been selected as finalists in the Victorian Disability Sector Awards.

The awards are a joint initiative between National Disability Services and the Department of Health and Human Services. They celebrate the efforts of both individuals and organisations who have made outstanding contributions to empowering people with a disability and creating an inclusive community.

Zane McKenzie is a Community Educator at Scope, and has been fundamental in helping people who we support understand the NDIS. He has been nominated for the Emerging Leader Award.

Daniel Reid, Scope’s 2015 Employee of the Year, is a Disability Support Worker at Scope ICON Lifestyle Options in Bendigo. He has also been nominated for the Emerging Leader Award.

Finally, Dr Barbara Solash has been nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award. Barbara has dedicated her career to creating a world where people who have communication difficulties are able to communicate successfully with everyone. As both a speech pathologist and educator, she has worked in the Loddon Mallee region and with Scope’s Communication and Inclusion Resource Centre   to lead Communication Access initiatives across Victoria.

Congratulations to all our finalists. Winners will be announced at an awards event on 3 June at Federation Square, Melbourne.
