Inclusive Hockey Exploration Sessions

Have your say in creating a new modified and inclusive sport!

Inclusive Hockey SessionsScope Australia in partnership with Hockey Victoria are developing an inclusive hockey pilot program suitable for people with multiple and complex disability. The program aims address access barriers to participation for people with multiple and complex disability and provide an opportunity for them to actively participate in sport. Hockey is a fun, engaging outdoor sport that can be appropriately modified to cater for all abilities.

As part of this, the Community Inclusion team will be running exploration sessions in November and December to identify the appropriate modified equipment for the program. We invite Scope employees to come along and have your say in this new sporting activity. We need people on the pitch to use the equipment and provide feedback to help design the modified version of hockey. There are sessions running at two different locations. You are welcoming to come to any of the two forthcoming sessions:

  • Footscray Hockey Club – McIvor Reserve, Fogarty Ave, Yarraville at 10am on 29 November
  • Altona Hockey Club – J K Grant Reserve, Sugar Gum Drive on 1 December

After the completion of the sessions, we will provide a survey to compile feedback that will inform the delivery of the program. The inclusive pilot hockey program will run at Altona and Footscray Hockey centres in March/April 2023.
