Scope appoints new Chair

After 10 years on the Scope Board and 5 years as Chair, Mark Burrowes is handing the reins over to current Deputy Chair David Lloyd Jones.

Mark has steered the organisation through an unprecedented era of change with the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Having a son with cerebral palsy, Mark is extremely passionate about disability support services and is an advocate for creating inclusive communities for everyone – a passion that has driven him in his time at Scope.

Under his leadership, the Board invested in a strategic change project which has facilitated Scope’s transformation and laid the groundwork for the organisation’s success.

He’s also led the organisation in an exciting time of growth, with Scope being selected by the Victorian Government to take on 40% of the state’s supported independent living and short term accommodation services across Victoria.

Mark is leaving a legacy of a best practice approach to governance, ensuring Scope’s board is agile, modern and commercially focussed.

Scope CEO Jenny Fitzgerald said, “Mark has left an indelible and positive legacy for the next generation, to the benefit of everyone that Scope supports.

“I’ve been privileged to work alongside Mark as we navigated the NDIS and transformed the organisation. I look forward to continuing to work with David and the rest of the Board in this next chapter of growth.”

David was appointed to the Board in 2011. A small business owner and investor, David specialises in the food manufacturing industry, proprietary lines and industrial services. With more than 30 years’ experience, he has forged a reputation as a talented and accomplished Company Director.

David leads with a strategic and analytical approach. He is passionate about contributing to the community and a strong advocate for the empowerment of people with a disability,

David holds a Bachelor of Business, is a Certified Practicing Accountant, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Marcell Judkins will take up the position of Deputy Chair.
