Scope CEO receives Order of Australia Medal (AM)
Scope Aust. is proud to announce that our CEO, Dr Jennifer Fitzgerald AM, has been recognised for her steadfast advocacy and commitment to supporting people with disability, receiving an Order of Australia Medal in the General Division (AM) in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday 2021 Honour Roll. Dr Fitzgerald was also recognised in the COVID-19 Honour Roll for significant service to people with disability through leadership and advocacy roles.
The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement. The Queen’s Birthday COVID-19 Honour Roll honours recipients identified through their nominations as having performed outstanding service or contributions in support of Australia’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“These dual recognitions are a wonderful testament to Dr Fitzgerald’s leadership and contribution to the disability sector over time and in current circumstances,” shared the Chair of Scope’s Board of Directors, Dr Sanchia Aranda.
Dr Fitzgerald was appointed to the role of CEO of Scope in 2012. Since then, she has successfully transformed the business to adapt to a customer-driven and commercial environment during the transition to the NDIS.
Dr Fitzgerald is a Director of the Ability Roundtable, a member of the Victorian Ministerial NDIS Implementation Taskforce and has held past Directorships of Ability First Australia, Cerebral Palsy Australia, and National Disability Services.
“I am both honoured and humbled by this Award. It is really a reflection of a great team who share the same Mission and Vision and are committed to ensuring that the rights of people with a disability are recognised and acted upon. I am very privileged to work for such a wonderful organisation.”
