A remarkable act of generosity means Scope will soon be able to complete furnishing nine newly built specialist disability accommodation houses thanks to a substantial gift left by a dedicated supporter.

Throughout his lifetime, Mr Frank Woodcock was a loyal Scope supporter, donating whenever he was able. In particular he had a passion for supporting housing related projects, understood the importance of having a place to call home and knew how life transforming leaving a gift in your will could be.

With this in mind, the thoughtful gift Mr Woodcock left for Scope when he passed away has been used to furnish the communal areas of five recently built houses. In addition, it will fund the furnishing of further two houses by the end of this year, and another three in early 2025.

These new builds are part of a larger project that will see many of the houses to which Scope provides Supported Independent Living (SIL) services being upgraded to ensure they offer an environment that looks and feels like a home. In some cases, minor works are required, whilst others will undergo major renovations and, in some situations, the houses will be completely replaced by new builds and residents relocated. NDIS funds do not cover these costs.

Mr Woodcock’s gift has significantly enhanced Scope’s ability to provide high-quality, modern and accessible living spaces for people with disability.

This incredible support doesn’t just mean new furnishings—it means creating a space where people with disability can truly feel at home. It’s about offering comfort, independence, and a sense of dignity.

This generous donation underscores the vital role that planned giving and leaving a gift to Scope in your will can play in providing funds for important projects and making a lasting difference to people with disability.

So, next time you hear about gifts left in wills, remember it’s not just about money—it’s about making a real difference. Scope’s new homes are a shining example of how such gifts can transform lives, one thoughtfully furnished room at a time.
