With the new year well and truly upon us, we have been very busy.
I hope you enjoyed precious time with friends, family and those important to
you over the festive season.
Our recent Christmas Appeal demonstrated how wonderfully generous
our donors are, helping us to raise in excess of $80,000. I extend a heartfelt
thank you to everyone who donated. Many of our services and programs are not
fully funded by the NDIS. Your donations are essential in helping us deliver
the vital work we do.
This edition shares truly inspiring stories of how our clients
have found a place to belong and thrive whether it is through our employment
programs, Social Connections programs or Supported Independent Living (SIL)
services.
We are also so thrilled to have been involved in several new
initiatives including the Best Care project, developed to equip health
professionals with tools to enable them to communicate effectively with people
with communication disability.
Adding to this, the first stage of our ‘Supporting Clients with
Complex Care Needs’ project recently concluded. This project, funded by a
generous donation, has had a significant impact on the overall health, safety
and wellbeing of residents with complex care needs living in our SIL houses and
is changing the way in which we support them.
In closing, I would like to say a special thank you to those of
you who are regular donors, generously contributing to Scope each month. Thanks
to your regular gift, we can plan for a future of making a difference in the
lives of the people we support.
With gratitude,
Kate MacRae
