What services are available?

Equipment assessment and review

Our occupational therapists can work with you to explore equipment solutions that allow you to complete everyday activities comfortably and safely. Equipment for assessment could include:

  • Specialised seating for armchair, recliner or activity chair 
  • Personal care equipment such as a commode or shower chair
  • Transfer equipment such as a ceiling hoist, portable hoist and/or sling
  • A bed, mattress or customised sleep system
  • An adapted bicycle
  • A standing frame
  • A walker 

What might be involved:

  • Supported goal setting
  • Assessment of movement, function and relevant environments
  • Research of technology options
  • Collaboration with technicians, family, supports and other health professionals
  • Multiple equipment trials
  • Completion of clinical reports and a funding application 
  • Fitting, support and training

Wheelchair, mobility and/or seating assessment

Our occupational therapists or physiotherapists will complete a comprehensive assessment, equipment trials, funding application, and assist you with wheelchair set-up.

This may include:

  • Supported goal setting
  • Initial comprehensive assessment and measurement with two therapists
  • Assessment of movement, function and relevant environments
  • Research of technology options
  • Collaboration with technicians, family, supports and other health professionals
  • Multiple equipment trials
  • Completion of clinical reports and a funding application 
  • Fitting, support and training – multiple fittings and adjustments
  • Return travel (within NDIS guidelines)

Home modifications

If you are requiring simple modifications to make your home more easily accessible including rails, simple ramps, platform steps, or kitchen modifications an occupational therapist can assist with assessment, collaboration with builders, drawings, and funding applications.

This may include:

  • Assessment of the home environment
  • Collaboration with a builder
  • Drawing of Scope of works and completion of a funding application
  • Solutions including rails, simple ramps, platform steps or kitchen mods 

Vehicle modifications

We can support you to complete vehicle modifications to allow you to travel in a vehicle safely.

This may include:

  • Assessment of your needs, history, abilities and goals
  • Research on vehicle modification options
  • Completion of clinical and legal documentation
  • Completion of a funding application
  • Sign off and training

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

We can support you to find the right communication systems for your needs, whether it is a communication aid, communication app, and/or speech generating devices.

This includes:

  • Assessment of your current communication skills and needs face to face or via telepractice
  • Discussion with you and people who know you well
  • Feature matching (finding the communication systems that best meet your needs)
  • Trials of at least two communication systems
  • Written recommendations
  • Funding application if required
