Scope’s Housing Strategy: Creating Homes That Feel Like Home Skip to main content

At Scope, we understand that a home is more than just a place to live - it’s a foundation for a good life. It’s where we feel safe, comfortable, and connected. That’s why we’re committed to ensuring every person we support has a home they love - one that suits their needs, reflects their preferences, and supports their independence.

As one of Australia’s largest disability service providers, our goal is simple but powerful: to improve the quality of homes for our clients today, and to build even better options for tomorrow.

Listening, Learning, and Improving

We’ve started by taking a close look at the homes where we provide Supported Independent Living (SIL) supports and asked important questions:

  • Do our clients feel comfortable and happy in their homes?
  • Are the homes accessible and well-maintained?
  • Are housemates well-matched?

We’re using this insight to guide improvements and ensure that every home supports wellbeing, independence, and a sense of belonging.

Partnering for Better Homes

We’re working closely with our Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) providers to upgrade homes and make them more accessible and enjoyable. By June 2025, we’ll have completed improvements in nine homes—including kitchen and bathroom upgrades, garden enhancements, and other changes that make a big difference in the daily lives of our clients.

Designing with Purpose

To make sure every new home meets the highest standards, we’ve developed the Scope SIL Housing Design Guidelines. These guidelines ensure that all renovations and new builds are safe, accessible, and built to last, aligned with national standards and the needs of the people who live in them.

New Homes, New Opportunities

We’re also excited to be opening more brand-new homes across Victoria this year, in locations such as Essendon, Boronia, Bayswater and Chelsea Heights, just to name a few. These homes will welcome both current and new clients and feature modern, accessible designs, like height-adjustable benches and smart home technology, to support greater independence.

Looking Ahead with Heart and Purpose

Scope’s Housing Strategy is about more than bricks and mortar - it’s about creating homes where people feel safe, valued, empowered and connected to their community. We’re proud to build a future where every person we support can live in a home that truly feels like their own.

As we continue this journey, we’re grateful for the trust and partnership of families and As we continue this journey, we’re grateful for the trust and partnership of families and supporters like you. Together, we’re creating homes and lives filled with possibility.
