Scope’s eLearning series consists of individual modules, including disability awareness, that provide employees with knowledge, skills and confidence to increase access and inclusion for people with disability.
See the Person (Disability Awareness Training)
An essential introduction to disability awareness. After completing this interactive module, your employees will have a greater awareness of the daily barriers people with disability face and understand the importance of using inclusive language, as well as their responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act.
Accessible written information
Making customer information available in Easy English enables customers with low literacy to do everyday tasks more easily. On completing this module, employees will understand the importance of Easy English as a form of accessible written information and how documents can be produced in Easy English for use with your customers.
Communication access (in-person and telephone communication)
Communication access means that all customers, including people with communication difficulties, can get their message across and be understood by customer service employees. This module will equip your employees with knowledge about communication disability, and tools and strategies to use with customers who have communication difficulties.
eLearning for Disability Support Workers and Therapists
Practical Communication Strategies
An essential module to equip disability support workers and therapists with foundation knowledge about communication aids and strategies. It is integral that frontline staff have this knowledge, as poor communication can often lead to poorer inclusion and engagement outcomes and a rise in behaviours of concern. Upon completing this 30-minute module, learners will have the skills to identify different types of communication aids and practical communication strategies to improve support for people who have a range of communication support needs. This module is recommended as part of frontline staff induction, or as a refresher for those who have previously completed communication training.
